Discover AutPlay therapy for neurodivergent children

Learn how play therapy can support your child's unique needs and strengthen your family's connection. Exceptional Life Counseling and Advocacy Center offers specialized AutPlay therapy in Lago Vista, Texas, focusing on growth and understanding.

What is AutPlay therapy?

AutPlay Therapy is a neurodiversity-affirming framework designed to implement play therapy specifically for the mental health needs of neurodivergent children and their families. It is a child-centered approach that respects and celebrates each child's unique way of experiencing and interacting with the world. While originally created for children, many of the theories apply and are useful in working with adults who have cognitive challenges. We also offer services to adults with intellectual disabilities who may benefit from the same neuro-affirming framework.

Neurodiversity affirming

Our approach honors and appreciates your child's unique gifts, strengths, and interests, rather than seeking to change them.

Family focused

We work with the entire family to improve communication, strengthen relationships, and create a supportive home environment.

Play-based

Utilizing the power of play, we address various needs in a way that is natural and engaging for children.

Expected changes and benefits

AutPlay therapy can address a wide range of needs, leading to improved emotional regulation, enhanced social navigation skills, greater engagement and connection within the family, and reduced anxiety and fear. We also work on sensory challenges, executive functioning struggles, and self-esteem issues.

Why choose Exceptional Life Counseling?

I am a certified AutPlay therapist and the only provider in NW Austin, Cedar Park, Leander, Lago Vista, and Marble Falls offering this specialized approach. My work centers on honoring your child’s authentic neurodivergent identity—recognizing their strengths, supporting their needs, and never aiming to reshape them to appear neurotypical.

AutPlay in my practice emphasizes identity appreciation, autonomy, and true inclusion. I also partner closely with parents, offering guidance in advocacy and helping families navigate stigma with confidence and clarity.
